Jericoacoara
Jericoacoara is situated in the north east of Brazil, accessible from Fortaleza (International Airport); and by 4x4 vehicles over beaches and dirt tracks. Jericoacoara is a small fishing village set within a National Park, with a west facing beach that offers the most fantastic sunsets. Jericoacoara has become one of the best windsurfing spots in the world due to its consistent winds from August to December. Due to its location it is extremely safe, relaxing and very quaint. Hosting a wide diversity of visitors, excellent restaurants, great night life and 365 days of sunshine; most people visit and don't want to go home. Soon to come is Jeri's very own airport.
Some Top Tips
Bring sun block, a hat, a beach towel, a book, a credit card, and plenty of cash (there are no ATMs in Jeri)
Leave your work behind and enjoy the life at the beach. Bring a Portuguese phrase book so that you don't appear to be too ignorant!
Take your time. Here people don't wear watches. Everything happens tomorrow.
Enjoy the local drinks, caiprinhas; embrace the culture, go dancing, surfing, eat some prawns on the beach and drink COLD beer!
FAQs
How far is the beach? We measured it/ it[s about 400 metres away. About 5 minutes walk to the main windsurf beach. Even my Mum made it down there comfortably!
How far are the shops? Not far. The town centre is about 5 minutes away. With supermarkets, clothes and souvenirs, plus many good restaurants.
Money. How can I pay for things? Cash is great and accepted everywhere. Credit cards and debit cards are also accepted in the supermarkets and restaurants.
How can I pay for my rent at Casado John or Serrote Breezes? Cash, PayPal, Bank Transfer and payment at a supermarket by credit card are all accepted.
Do we hire windsurf kit? No. Try ClubVentos they have excellent facilities and equipment.
Are all the apartments air conditioned? Casa do John is, but Serrote Breezes with it's fresh winds and ceiling fans hasn't required air con to date. Although the wiring and fixtures are all ready for air-con to be installed.
Do you have SKY TV? No, we don't. We have TVs with DVD players. Bring some movies.
What about Wi-Fi? Wi-Fi has not been installed due to expenses, and the ever increasing health issues associated with wire-less communications. Internet is available in the town. All the apartments can be cabled up to receive internet, telephone and SKY TV.
